Inflection AI, a startup committed to building personal artificial intelligence (AI) for anyone and everyone, has closed a whopping $1.3 billion funding round. Investors leading the round include Microsoft, Nvidia, Reid Hoffman, Bill Gates and Eric Schmidt. The funding raises the company's total funds to $1.525 billion, placing Inflection's valuation at around $4 billion. The invested capital will empower Inflection to continue its work on its premier product -- an AI assistant called Pi. Pi is designed to provide information tailored to the individual user's interests and needs, and the startup envisions it as a supportive companion, offering friendly advice in an engaging, conversational style. This aligns with Inflection's goal of making AI 'the most transformational tool of our lifetimes,' as stated by CEO Mustafa Suleyman. Despite the economic challenges, the AI space is attracting substantial investments. In Q1 2023 alone, approximately $1.7 billion was generated across 46 deals in the industry. With the latest funding round, Inflection positions itself as the second-best-funded generative AI startup, following OpenAI but surpassing several competitors like Anthropic, Cohere, Adept, and more.
